"Pay bestial unto bestial"

Films: In the Woods (1999)

Alias: Devil Dog

Type: Mystical

Location: Forest/Haunted home

Height/Weight: That of a large boar.

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Evil

Summary: When people disturb burial grounds in movies, they tend to provoke the wrath of ancient spirits. This time, our prodding has attracted...something else.

History: Recently, a couple of idiots came across a strange burial site. After digging into it, they uncovered a strange three-horned skull, presumably belonging to an ancient beast. As it turns out, that was the skull of an ancient monster created via sorcery back when a couple of kingdoms were at war with each other, and rampaged until another monster was summoned to put it in the ground. But now that it has been reawakened, it believes its grave robber to be its master, and kills people for him whether he wants it or not. Meanwhile, the other monster is out looking to finish off its rival.

Notable Kills: Nothing special

Final Fate: Eventually, one of the hunters responsible for releasing the beast leads it into the woods where the other monster attacks it and rips out its spine. Presumably, the winning monster left humans alone after that.

Powers/Abilities: Extreme durability.

Weakness: The opposing monster can stop it.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-While some shots can be a bit hokey, there's no doubt that this savage bear-boar-wolf thing is a force to be reckoned with. It can hardly be killed, and you have to rely on an equally vicious (if cheaper-looking) monster to finish it off.

Trivia:-The main monster's skull bears a more demonic resemblance to that of the babirusa, a species of pig found in Indonesia that has tusks growing right from its snout. Sometimes, their tusks grow so long that they puncture the brain and kill the pig.

-Amazingly, the people behind this film, upon releasing this film again in 2007, made a whole documentary about the making of it all. Good luck finding that.
